It's very slick and plush. Weird that the power sockets looked a bit manky though. Also weird that people have to touch the loo door lock before going outside to wash their hands.

As always. An excellent review by an excellent reviewer. Imagine that - 90 minutes for 350 kms. Meanwhile it takes me Melbourne to Bendigo 130 km 2 hours +. No food.

I love getting a stamp. Almost every train station has a place where you can get a stamp to commemorate your visit to that station. It's mostly used by younger passengers. I have collected over 150. Sadly, I only have 4 of the commemorative photos, Which the attendant will take of you holding the special placard with the day's date on special trains e.g. The A train, The Train to Yufuin etc.

My wife and I were booked on the Ghan (platinum sleeper) in late May. 4 days before we were due to head off, her father died. Now, I get that their terms say that cancelling at such short notice means no refund, I really do. But I would have expected a halfway decent company to offer some sort of token partial credit for a future trip. Just as a gesture of good faith. But no. Beyond are beyond belief. Not only will I never travel with them, I will - and am - telling everyone I know this story.

"I got intermittent sleep because of the the ambient light, the noises, and so on..." Ear plugs and eye mask! Every traveller should have 🙂👍
